Doubles peals 1995

I have analysed the peals of Doubles rung during 1995 and published in The Ringing World. I found 169 peals; 42 in one method and 93 in from 2 to 100 methods. The remaining 34 contained variations and all conformed with Decision (D) C.3.

However, the peal at Crosthwaite on 23 December (96/127) was incompletely reported; extent (16) was unclear in the manuscript.

Moreover, the reports of the 13 peals listed in figure 1 did not conform with Decision (D) C.4 as they did not state the numbers of methods and variations separately; the correction column shows how they should have been reported.

4 of the peals in figure 1 (marked *) claimed from 1 to 5 "variations" which use only standard calls for the parent methods and, in accordance with Decision (E) A.3, are not entitled to different names.

If any band is unsure how the numbers were arrived at for their peal, I will be pleased to provide details on receipt of a stamped addressed envelope.

I also noticed minor discrepancies in the reports of the following peals:

• Humberstone on 7 January (95/167) claimed 6m/1v but contained 7m/1v.
• Ditchlingham on 28 January (95/300) claimed 13m but contained 12m.
• Crimplesham on 30 April (95/667) claimed 11m/30v but contained 12m/30v.
• Harston on 13 June (95/767) claimed 10m/15v but contained 11m/15v.
• Caversfield on 17 August (95/1005) claimed 9m/12v but contained 8m/13v.
• Little Wenlock on 13 August (95/1080) claimed 12m/25v but contained 11m/25v.
• Badingham on 5 October (95/1153) claimed 12m but contained 11m.
