The highlight of the annual meeting of the Andover District, held at Whitchurch on January 14th was the election of four new ringing members from Sydmonton, previously regarded as an unringable tower. Here a new band is being formed and this is the first time in the District's history that members have been elected from this tower.
The service was conducted by the Rev. Hamilton Lloyd, who, in his address, stressed the point that ringers should attend, if possible, the services they rang for. The usual Whitchurch tea was enjoyed. Mr. A. W. Alliston presided at the business meeting and Good worth Clatford was selected for the next meeting on March 18th, with Andover bells after tea. The District outing on Easter Monday will be in the Westbury area. The future of the Alliston Cup contest was discussed and was left to the executive meeting.
