September 16th was a beautiful autumn day on which about 45 members of the towers which are shortly to be merged into one District met for a get-together with ringing, service and tea at Fawley on the Southampton Water.
The six bells at All Saints’ Church are somewhat noisy in the ringing room, a fault which is soon to be rectified, nevertheless they were kept going to a variety of methods until shortly before Sung Evensong, conducted by the Vicar, the Rev. Noel Brewster.
A sumptuous buffet tea prepared by the ladies in the Church Hall provided an enjoyable social hour and gave opportunity to express thanks to the Vicar and all concerned with the arrangements of a successful meeting. The sympathy of the meeting was extended to Mr. and Mrs. T. H. Francis, who had suffered a family bereavement that day.
Further ringing took place in the evening at Lymington and Lyndhurst.
