The hanging of the two new additional bells at the Parish Church of Niton, Isle of Wight, which have been presented by a resident, has now been completed by Messrs. Mears and Stainbank under the supervision of Mr. J. Thomas. On Thursday, June 16th, the first six-scores of Grandsire, Stedman and Plain Bob were rung by the following: Dr. J. Bruce Williamson, J. Thomas, W. Upton, W. Scott and H. Barton. Both the hanging and tuning gave great satisfaction although, owing to the size of the tower, the bells had to be hung in three tiers. It is hoped that the villagers will make progress and ultimately become affiliated with the Winchester and Portsmouth Guild.
