WINCHESTER AND PORTSMOUTH DIOCESAN GUILD.

GOOD WISHES TO AUSTRALIAN TOURISTS.

A quarterly meeting of the Portsmouth District was held at Titchfield on Saturday, July 21st, when members attended from Alverstoke, Fareham, Gosport, Havant, Portsmouth (Cathedral and St. Mary's), Soberton, Swanmore, Titchfield and Wickham. The Guild's service was held in the Parish Church, at which the Vicar (Rev. G. S. Morley) officiated and addressed those present. Tea was partaken of in the Parish Hall, after which the business meeting was held, the Vicar being voted to the chair.

The Vicar was elected an honorary member of the Guild, and the following were elected ringing members: G. Barton, E. Irish (Havant), L. Pearson (Portsea), and E. Linter (Soberton).

Curdridge was selected for the next quarterly meeting to be held on Saturday, October 20th.

Mr. F. W. Rogers (general secretary) referred to the forthcoming tour in Australia, and on behalf of the Portsmouth District wished the two members representing the Guild (Rev. E. B. James and Mr. W. Linter) an enjoyable trip and a speedy and safe return.

Mr. W. Linter gave a brief outline of the proposed tour, and thanked the members for their good wishes.

Votes of thanks were accorded the Vicar for the use of the bells and the Parish Hall, and for officiating at the service and business meeting.- The Vicar suitably responded, and invited the Guild to Titchfield at any time they liked to come.

The meeting then closed, and members returned to the tower for further ringing, which ranged from rounds to Cambridge Surprise Minor.
