The one-day ringing course was held on 20th June at Price's College, Fareham, Hants, one of the few sunny days this summer.
We were welcomed by Mrs. Gilian Davis (Guild Master) who gave an introductory talk. The number of students was small, six in the PB Major Group; and four Treble Bob Minor. The tutors were Mr. David Forder (PB Major) and Anthony Smith (Treble Bob Minor), both making the lectures very easy to understand.
Later in the morning session the PB Major group divided for practical sessions, one being at Alverstoke and the other at Bishops Waltham. After lunch both groups met at Shedfield tower and were greeted by Miss Betty Daysh.
Throughout the practical sessions we were assisted by experienced helpers which included Messrs John Colliss, Roy Le Marechal and Derek Jackson, and Misses Christine Joyce and Charlotte Olding.
The Treble Bob Group were ringing at Upham, and later the general assembly for discussion at Price's College was encouraging. Appreciation was expressed to the organisers; the helpers; the instructors; and the lady who supplied the tea.
Mrs. Davis closed the course advising us to practise what we had been taught.
