A quarterly meeting of the Southampton District of the Winchester and Portsmouth Diocesan Guild was held at Lockerley on Saturday, April 13th. The bells of Lockerley and East Tytherley were utilised during the afternoon. Tea took place in the Memorial Hall, Lockerley, presided over by the Rector of Dibden, district chairman. Those present included the Vicar of Lockerley, Mr. G. Williams (vice-president), Mr. G. Pullinger (general secretary), and members from Dibden, Romsey, Portsea, Titchfield , King’s Somborne, Winchester, and North Stoneham. The Vicar of Lockerley (Rev. R. A. Sidebottom) was elected an hon. member of the Guild, and votes of thanks were accorded the Vicars of Lockerley and East Tytherley for the use of the bells, after which the hand bells were made use of, a course of Grandsire Caters being rung by the following: Mrs. G. Williams 1-2, F. T. Bayley 3-4, F. W. Rogers 5-6, G. Williams 7-8, W. Andrews 9-10. Afterwards, on Lockerley bells, Doubles, Kent Treble Bob, and Cambridge Minor were rung. The next meeting is fixed for July 13th at Dibden, due notice of which will be given in ‘The Ringing World.’
