The annual meeting of the Southampton District was held at Southampton on January 10th, when some 60 members attended, also visitors from Chichester, Salisbury and Nottingham. Ringing in various methods took place on the bells of St. Mary's and St. Michael's.
At the business meeting the Rev. K. W. H. Felstead, R.D., said that owing to increasing church duties he would be unable to continue as District chairman. He was thanked for carrying out this work for the past 16 years. Mr. R. Reed was elected District chairman, Mr. J. Hartless District secretary, Mr. R. Reed and Mr. R. Savory as Joint Ringing Masters, Mr. C. Kippin auditor, and Mr. D. Forder and Mr. T. Chapman as representatives.
It was decided to hold District meetings at Romsey, North Stoneham, Upham and Southampton and a special meeting in the autumn at Bitterne Park to coincide with the jubilee of the church. All will be duly advertised in "The Ringing World."
The secretary reported a good year with increased membership, balance in hand, attendance at meetings, and Sunday service ringing being well maintained in most of the District towers.
