A quarterly meeting of the Winchester district of the Guild was held at Fawley on Saturday, June 5th. The peal of six bells was available during the afternoon by kind permission of the Rector (Rev. F. N. Harvey). Only two towers of the district were represented, however, viz., North Stoneham and Winchester. A welcome was extended to Mr. F. Rogers, district secretary, Portsmouth, Mr. F. Burnett, St. Thomas’, Portsmouth, and Mr. and Mrs. F. Bayley (Fareham). The methods rung were Kent Treble Bob, Stedman Doubles, Cambridge Surprise, Oxford Treble Bob, and 120 Grandsire Doubles in which two of the local band took part.
After tea a short meeting was held, Mr. Geo. Williams presiding. Two of the local band were elected members of the Guild thereby adding another tower to the district.
A vote of thanks was passed to the Rector for the use of the bells and Mr. Wills for the arrangements made.
A vote of sympathy was passed to the Rev. C. E. Matthews, vice-president of the Guild, who is lying ill in Lyndhurst Cottage Hospital.
