Although not an official Guild activity, the 200 Club has now been in existence for over 11 years and has been a regular contributor to the BRF. I expect most Guild members will be familiar with the concept of a 200 Club, but in case anyone has not come across the idea, it goes like this: The club has (ideally) 200 members, each of whom pays an annual subscription of £12. The sub. may be paid annually, quarterly or monthly, preferably by standing order. Twice a year, normally at the Guild Dinner and at the AGM, a draw is held at which approximately half the funds accumulated are distributed as prizes, ranging from £25 upwards; the remaining money is donated to the BRF. The largest prize so far awarded has been £200, although there have been several of £150 and £100 over the years.
Last year the club had 129 members by the time of the AGM, yielding an income of £1548; £750 of this was paid out as prizes and £800 was given to the BRF. Since its inception in 1991 the 200 Club has contributed £6990 to the BRF, really a very significant sum.
As you can see, there is still room for new members - another 71 would take us to the magic 200! This would generate a tremendous £1200 each year which would go towards Bell Restoration in our Guild area. If you would like to join, please write to me at the address below, or email esbester@argonet.co.uk, and I will send you a simple form to complete. If you are an existing member, thank you for your support - see if you can find another member!
