This is my final term as convenor of the fund raising committee. Because I feel passionately that we should support the BRF I produced enough posters to be distributed through district secretaries for each ringable tower in the Guild suggesting ways of raising money. In my travels round the mainland districts there were no posters on view in any of the towers I visited. I have spoken to the Guild Treasurer and there appears to have been little or no response. The Isle of Wight District held a beetle drive in aid of the BRF, but I have heard of no other fund raising activities.
Between my two terms as convenor (a total of nine years) there was a gap of three years when no-one was willing to take on the job. If we cannot raise money by having fun activities perhaps we should consider increasing our Guild Fees so everyone contributes.
I would remind members that the BRF is not a bottomless coffer. We need to put money in so that grants can be made to keep our bells in good order.
