Following a quiet year in 2007, the Education Committee ran five courses during the year, covering Surprise Minor, Teaching Bell Handling, Plain Bob (Doubles and Minor), Running a Practice, Listening Skills and Basic Calling. A total of 73 students took part in these courses, making very good progress during the days. We intend to continue with the programme of 4 practical courses and a pre-Easter theory course again during 2009.
Courses can never be run without the many helpers who turn up to assist. Without their continuing support the courses are not possible. The tutors and group leaders who give up their time often put in a lot of effort preparing for the courses before the day to ensure that each course is run in a way that is most beneficial for the students.
A big thank you from the Education Committee to all those who have assisted during the year. We always need additional helpers to assist on these courses, so if you feel willing and able to help out, even occasionally, then please let one of the education committee know.
The Committee wishes to thank all the towers and incumbents for the use of their bells, particularly those who manage to sort out the use of their bells at short notice.
