The web site is now essentially on a “care and maintenance” footing. There seems no pressing need to make radical changes. If you think otherwise please let me know. Rosemary Oakeshott does a fine job of keeping it up to date as we are notified of changes. I thought it might be of some interest to publish a few statistics.
The site receives an average of 80 visitors per day. 63% are from the UK, 20% from the USA and surprisingly 6% from China. The top referring site is www.cccbr.org.uk followed by www.ringing.info and www.nagcr.org. So there seems to be a good deal of interest in us from the other side of the Atlantic.
I find it rather disappointing that only half of the towers which have named correspondents are contactable from the site by email. The facility is well used about 30 messages per month being relayed. I am not aware, indeed I am absolutely certain, that none of these were spam. I should very much like to hear from those who refuse their permission as to their reasons, especially when the address is published in the Annual Report for all to see. As I have said on previous occasions, the addresses used on the web site are not on public view and are known only to Rosemary and me.
I have had the pleasure of editing two editions of Guild News during the year and would, as always, like to express my gratitude to those who take the trouble to contribute.
