2009 started with a very successful Plain Hunt Course in March, which was fully subscribed. Later courses, however, experienced severe difficulties due to a lack of Group Leaders and helpers, resulting in last-minute cancellations. This was extremely disappointing, not only for the students who applied (and in each case the courses were over-subscribed) but for the organisers who had expended a great deal of planning time and effort.
From the number of students who apply for the limited number of places, it is evident that these courses are needed and appreciated; however their success is dependent upon enough helpers to enable each student to reach their potential and gain the maximum benefit. We cannot stress strongly enough that we would welcome help from many more ringers, even if for just part of a day. Nevertheless, training courses are essential and we are committed to addressing this matter and to providing further courses during 2010.
In the meantime, we are extremely grateful for those who have helped, to the towers who have welcomed us for the practice sessions, and to the many others who have worked behind the scenes.
