GENERAL TREASURER’S REPORT

I have pleasure in presenting my report and accounts of the Central Fund and Central Reserve Fund for the year ended 31st December 2009.

There has been a decrease in the surplus this year. Whilst our income has remained fairly static our expenses have increased. My expenses are up as I attended an extra meeting prior to the March Executive meeting and there have been increases in the cost of running the Guild Website and production of the biannual Guild News Letter. Our insurance costs have increased slightly.

The Executive at their November meeting agreed to increase the Public Liability Insurance. Our Public Liability Insurance level of cover has been £1,000,000 since it was first taken out so for 2010 the limit has been increased to £5,000,000 for a relatively small increase in premium.

We have sold very few of the book “Church Bells of the Channel Islands”. Perhaps during 2010 we can make a conscious effort to sell as many as we can. Only three were sold in 2009 - two of those to visitors to my own tower in Guernsey. Only nine need to be sold then any further sales will be for the direct benefit to the Bell Restoration Fund.

During the year surplus funds were transferred to the Reserve Account to earn at least some interest albeit at a very low rate.

At present the Guild is in a very healthy state financially with a substantial balance in the Reserve Account.
