I have little of substance to report. We are grateful to Rosemary Oakeshott for the work that she does in keeping the web site in good order and up to date.
I still find it disappointing that less than half our ringing towers have taken the trouble to set up an email contact from the web site. It can be most helpful to those seeking to organise outings or meetings. In this regard the Channel Island and Basingstoke Districts are beacons of light with 85% and 70% respectively. We believe that the messaging system from the web site is reasonably secure and that no email addresses are discoverable by anyone other than Rosemary or me. If tower contacts are still reluctant to use their personal email then why not consider setting up a “Tower” address on Hotmail or Gmail? If it were to be compromised create another. Email communication can save the General Secretary much work and postage cost in sending out AGM documents.
There are now 190 subscribers to the “win-port-bellringers” mailing list; it continues to provide a valuable vehicle for communication.
Two editions of Guild News were published as usual, my thanks to those who have contributed articles, in particular a member from the north of the Guild who keeps me supplied with his entertaining recollections of a long ringing career.
