COMMUNICATIONS COMMITTEE

A slightly unsatisfactory year. Disappointing was the fact that insufficient contributions were received to make publishing “Guild News” worthwhile. In this Internet age is it passed its “sell-by date”? The Guild Facebook page is active but with 191 subscribers, not all resident Guild members and a small proportion of the total membership. I am conscious though that there are Guild members who have no Internet access let alone a Facebook account, and that even in 2015 the only truly universal medium of communication is on paper! So what to do? The Executive Committee has approved a budget for 2 issues in 2015. We will attempt to procure sufficient material for at least one edition.

Rosemary Oakeshott has been busy preparing a “refresh” of the Guild web site which hopefully will be revealed to the world soon. Rosemary has indicated her intention to stand down at the 2015 AGM. She has, over the years, given much time and effort to the design and maintenance of the site and I would like to record my thanks to her here.
