A very busy year with the “FTK”s and the resurrection of the Whole day Courses, this year based at Stockbridge.
The “FTK”s were attended by 49 representatives covering approximately 35 towers and generated some very lively discussions and a very effective interchange of ideas, which of course was their intention. It must be assumed that the towers not represented have an effective recruitment and training schedule, it is a great shame that they were not able to share this expertise.
All the practical sessions have included a course on “Teaching Bell Handling” and 14 students availed themselves of this course. Other courses: Plain Bob Doubles - 24 students, Plain Bob Minor - 13 students, Grandsire - 2 students, Advanced Belfry Maintenance - 3 students, Raising and Lowering - 6 students. A Total of 62 Students took part in courses during 1998
May I take this opportunity to thank all Incumbents, Tower Captains and Tower Correspondents for allowing and arranging the use of their bells. A special thanks to the Tutors and Helpers without whom the courses would never happen.
Next Year is liable to be just as busy and as much fun. So would District Officers please make every attempt to keep the Education Committee dates free.
